About Me
Pam Snyder, LCSW
Why I Do This Work
I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to feel disconnected, overwhelmed, and unsure if things can really change. My own journey has taught me that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about finding safety, connection, and a deeper understanding of ourselves, especially in our bodies.
Like many of the people I work with, I have a history of childhood trauma. For a long time, I didn’t recognize the chronic tension I carried as a trauma response—I just thought it was normal. I tried therapy a few times, but it didn’t feel meaningful or helpful. Then, during a silent meditation retreat, something shifted. After several days of stillness, I stepped outside and felt my entire body release in a way I had never experienced. For the first time, I felt safe in my body—and it changed everything.
The Turning Point
That moment opened a door. I realized how deeply trauma is held in the body and how powerful it can be to connect with it. I dove into learning everything I could about somatic and body-based healing. Up until then, my work as a therapist had focused mainly on thoughts and behaviors. My clients were committed and doing the work, but their progress seemed to hit a wall. That’s when I began to shift my approach.
I trained in somatic therapies, learned how the nervous system responds to trauma, and started helping clients not just talk about what happened, but feel their way through it safely.
How I Show Up for You
Today, I integrate Somatic EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Polyvagal Theory to help clients build a strong foundation for healing. These approaches allow us to work with all parts of you—body, mind, and emotion. Together, we’ll create space to explore your inner experience, develop tools to regulate your nervous system, and shift the survival strategies that may have once protected you, but now feel limiting or painful.
I’m continually moved by the quiet strength clients bring into the therapy space. Walking beside someone as they find their way back to themselves—trusting their body, their voice, their truth—is a profound experience. Healing isn’t easy—and you don’t have to do it alone.
